A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MR. DON NEHRING UPON BEING NAMED THE 2022 MISSISSIPPI TRUCK DRIVER OF THE YEAR AND EXPRESSING GRATITUDE FOR HIS HARD WORK AND COMMITMENT TO SAFETY.
WHEREAS, Mr. Don Nehring, a resident of Southaven, Mississippi, and an employee of FedEx Ground of Olive Branch, Mississippi, has been awarded the distinct honor of being named Mississippi's Truck Driver of the Year for 2022, a truly outstanding accomplishment; and
WHEREAS, this distinguished honor reflects the hard work and dedication required from all transportation professionals, and Mr. Nehring has demonstrated that he represents the very best of his profession; and
WHEREAS, the truck driving profession requires a significant emphasis on both productivity and safety, skill sets that Mr. Nehring has both exemplified and shown a strong commitment to in his 47 years of driving, having driven over 5.3 million accident-free miles in the span of his career; and
WHEREAS, in addition to Mr. Nehring's outstanding professional career, he further distinguishes himself with volunteer service to the Trucker Buddy Program, where truckers pen pal school children from across the nation while on the road, and he was also an American Trucking Association's American Road Team Captain in the early 2000s, and competed in the Mississippi State Truck Driving championship over 20 times, winning his class five times and placing second or third numerous other times; and
WHEREAS, additionally, Mr. Nehring is a shining example of the image of the true driving professional, with his commitment to public safety, his commitment to helping those in need, and with a steadfast commitment to bettering his community and bettering the State of Mississippi as a whole; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize exceptional Mississippians, especially those such as Mr. Nehring, who represents both true professionalism and a commitment to bettering the motoring public's safety by leading his profession forward:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Don Nehring upon being named the 2022 Mississippi Truck Driver of the Year, express gratitude for his hard work and commitment to safety and extend our most sincere wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Don Nehring, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
