A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE BOONEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL LADY BLUE DEVILS BASKETBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Lady Blue Devils punctuated an excellent 29-1 winning season by winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 3A State Championship, earning themselves an indelible place in the school's athletic history; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Blue Devils proved their excellence throughout the season, winning 29 out of 30 games, scoring 1,831 points while allowing only 1,197, averaging 66 points per game and winning games by an average 23 points; and

WHEREAS, the talented roster features players earning a variety of individual distinctions and honors, and players earning All-Division honors include: Adallice Young, Shmia Williams, Kabrina Hill, Maria Lauderdale, Maleeka Patterson, Elly Nash and Cora Geno; players receiving All-State honors include Shmia Williams, Kabrina Hill, and Adallice Young who also earned the distinction of Daily Journal Player of the Year; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Blue Devils championship roster includes: Maleeka Patterson, Cora Geno, Dezhane Norton, Adallice Young, Kabrina Hill, Maria Lauderdale, Lexie Michael, Kaylee Stephenson, Zoe Anglin, Anoiha Mauraza, Elly Nash, Emily Baker, Morgan Goss, Kristen Perrigo, Shmia Williams, Kristen Ragin, Lexie Pharr, Kinsley Murphy, Kaitlyn Cunningham, Micaela Stevens and Loretta Polanco; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Blue Devils are led by Head Coach Michael Smith and Assistant Coaches Brian Windham, Micah Moment and Bryant Tynes, and assisting the coaching staff are managers Zakia Crump, Fallon Edmund, John Adam White and Chandler Johnson; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the achievements of student athletes such as the Booneville High School Lady Blue Devils Basketball Team who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Booneville High School Lady Blue Devils Basketball Team for completing an excellent season, capturing the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 3A State Championship, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach and Booneville High School Athletic Director Michael Smith and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
