A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2020-2021 EAST UNION ATTENDANCE CENTER LADY URCHINS POWERLIFTING TEAM AND HEAD COACH SCOTT DULEY FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the 2020-2021 East Union Attendance Center Lady Urchins Powerlifting Team reigned supreme at the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 1A Powerlifting Championship, a truly impressive feat for such an amazing group of student-athletes; and
WHEREAS, after completing a superior season that was driven by more than just the yearning to succeed, the Lady Urchins had a perfect record of 24-0, and they intensely amplified all of their hard work, motivation and strength for the championship match; and
WHEREAS, the East Union Lady Urchins Powerlifting Team is comprised of the following talented athletes: Sunshine Fulgehem, Emily Herod, Bethany Hazel, Harleigh Wheelington, Mary Herod, Dakota Hines, Maggie McVey, Jorja Roberson, Laura Cobb, Lucy Haynes, Emma Boatner and Carrie Wilkenson; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Scott Duley has superbly coached and inspired the Lady Urchins and broadened their knowledge of the game while refining their skills in execution and continues to build upon the legacy of superior play and true sportsmanship forged by the tenacious and undaunted spirit of each team member, and the championship victory would not have been possible without the help of volunteer coaches Steve Prewett and Ben Roberts and managers Heather Duley and Hannah Duley; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor and commend outstanding student-athletes, especially those such as the 2020-2021 East Union Attendance Center Lady Urchins Powerlifting Team, whose unparalleled strength, dauntless fortitude and remarkable dedication bring honor to their community, East Union Attendance Center and the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2020-2021 East Union Attendance Center Lady Urchins Powerlifting Team and Head Coach Scott Duley for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 1A State Championship, and extend most sincere wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Scott Duley and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
