A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING WILSON NATHANIEL "NATE" CAUSEY ON THE OCCASION OF HIS 35TH BIRTHDAY, AND DESIGNATING SEPTEMBER 9, 2010, AS WILSON NATHANIEL CAUSEY DAY IN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.
WHEREAS, Wilson Nathaniel "Nate" Causey, the son of Wilson and Martha Causey of Tupelo, Mississippi, and grandson of Mrs. Martha Hammons and the late Mr. John Hammons, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Robison of Tupelo, born on September 9, 1975, will celebrate the grand occasion of his 35th birthday on September 9, 2010; and
WHEREAS, a 1994 graduate of Tupelo High School, where he played on the Golden Wave football team, Nate's athletic prowess and academic success afforded him the opportunity to play tight end for the University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles on a full football scholarship, wherefrom he graduated in 1999 with a master's degree in sports administration; and
WHEREAS, after his collegiate matriculation, he moved back to Tupelo and began work at the Walmart Distribution Center in New Albany, Mississippi, as an operations manager; and
WHEREAS, on August 9, 2007, he was privileged to meet Genie Alice Via, and the two were married on November 7, 2009, relocated to Saltillo, Mississippi, and joined the spiritual flock of First Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, diagnosed with a benign brain tumor, Nate has undergone five neurosurgery procedures in three different states, but his resilience, perseverance and will to live have encouraged his many family members and friends who have been a constant source of support and love during these trying times; and
WHEREAS, undergoing rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia, Nate is working hard to get back on his feet, and looks forward to returning home to Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, a hard worker, a wonderful husband, awesome brother and son, Nate loves working in his yard and garden, growing vegetables and fruit, and remains an avid sports fan as he continues to follow USM and Tupelo High School football; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the zeal of such a worthy and deserving individual as Nate, whose selflessness, despite his own health complications is to be commended for services rendered and volunteerism for such causes as the New Albany Relay for Life and the Special Olympics in Pontotoc:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Wilson Nathaniel "Nate" Causey on the grand occasion of celebrating his 35th birthday, extend best wishes for a speedy and full recovery and designate September 9, 2010, as Wilson Nathaniel "Nate" Causey Day in the State of Mississippi.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Wilson Nathaniel "Nate" Causey, his family and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
