A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE J. SHAUN WALLEY FOR HIS LEGISLATIVE LEGACY AND CONGRATULATING HIM UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

     WHEREAS, Representative J. Shaun Walley, an honored and cherished member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, will make the 2011 legislative year his last legislative year when he retires; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Walley was born and reared in Lucedale, Mississippi, and after graduating from Greene County High School, he attended Jones County Junior College and then attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he received a bachelor of science degree and commenced a career as an educator and coach; and

     WHEREAS, Shaun was initially elected in November 2005 by the citizens of District 105, which consists of Forrest, George, Greene, Perry and Wayne Counties; and

     WHEREAS, due to his outstanding representation of his district, Representative Walley has served District 105 for six productive and dynamic years, and has utilized the wisdom and experience that he has accrued over his tenure to guide him in his leadership duties as Vice Chairman of Banking and Financial Services; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to his vice chairmanship, Representative Walley has served on the following committees:  Corrections, Education, Marine Resources, Medicaid and Transportation; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to his committed service to the House of Representatives, Representative Walley also served as an educator and coach for many years; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor and recognize one who has represented District 105, as well as this legislative body, with honor, respect and dignity:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Representative J. Shaun Walley for his legislative legacy and congratulate him upon the occasion of his retirement from the Mississippi House of Representatives.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Shaun Walley and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
