House Resolution 53
(As Adopted by House)
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MR. RC SWIFT UPON HIS PASSING AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
WHEREAS, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven," and as such the immaculate author and finisher of our soul's destiny summoned the mortal presence of dearly beloved Mr. RC Swift to eternal rest, rendering great sorrow to his friends and family; and
WHEREAS, the Clay County community lost a wonderful friend with the passing of Mr. Swift, who was born on September 4, 1928, to the late Eddie Swift and the late Emma Lairy Swift as one of 11 children; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Swift confessed hope in Christ and joined Mt. Zion M.B. Church at an early age, and in fulfillment of the biblical principal of "he who fineth a wife, finds a good thing," he married the love of his life, Clode Sadie Griffin and over the course of their 61-year marriage the couple had three daughters, Margaret, Danish and Joyce, and three sons, Octavious, Willie and Lee; and
WHEREAS, a man who loved to work and do anything outside, Mr. Swift could often be found sitting under the huge pecan tree in his yard, and on many days he could be found fast asleep or enjoying God's breeze in the old blue pickup truck parked in the yard; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Swift retired from C&G Railroad Company and later worked for Clay County, and he spent his days busy doing whatever he wanted and of course made time for his kids, whom he could never tell no to anything; and
WHEREAS, though he has traversed the river of life to reunite with those who have passed before him, including his son, Willie Lenior, the memory of Mr. Swift will continue to refresh the hearts and fond memories of his beloved survivors: his wife, Clode Sadie Griffin Swift; children, Margaret, Danish, Joyce, Octavious and Lee; and a host of other relatives and friends; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the lives of fine Mississippians, such as Mr. Swift, whose contributions to his community brought great pride to his friends, family and the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and legacy of Mr. RC Swift and extend sincere sympathy to his friends and family upon his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. RC Swift and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
