A RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF MRS. ILA LEE PUTMAN ERWIN BROWN AND EXPRESSING SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HER PASSING.

     WHEREAS, the family of Mrs. Ila Lee Putman Erwin Brown received an angel on December 25, 2014, when their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother Mrs. Ila Lee Putman Erwin Brown passed this life to Heaven eternal; and

     WHEREAS, she was born on August 28, 1922, to William H. Putman and Ronnie L. Pittman Putman in Choctaw County, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, she professed her faith early in life, asking for baptism in July 1937, while attending church at Crape Creek Baptist Church; and

     WHEREAS, she later moved to Montgomery County, Winona, Mississippi, and transferred membership to First Baptist Church, where she was a longtime faithful member of that church; and

     WHEREAS, after attending Bond Public School, she married her first husband Aubrey R. Erwin, who was met by an untimely death, her second husband was C.A. Brown, who also preceded her in death; and

     WHEREAS, she was an expert seamstress and worked in the garment industry for many years, but also enjoyed homemaking, cooking and gardening; and

     WHEREAS, a welcoming soul, she offered food to all who entered her home and was hurt, if anyone turned down her offer; and

     WHEREAS, truly a beautiful southern lady, who wore make-up before it was popular; and

     WHEREAS, her memory will be cherished by her six children, twenty-four grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor the life of such a selfless and dedicated individual as Mrs. Ila Lee Putman Erwin Brown:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and legacy of Mrs. Ila Lee Putman Erwin Brown and express sympathy to her family and friends upon her passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mrs. Ila Lee Putman Erwin Brown and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
