A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE DISTINGUISHED CAREER AND MERITORIOUS LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE THAT MR. JOE CALDWELL PROVIDED AS THE ALCORN COUNTY CIRCUIT CLERK UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

     WHEREAS, Joe Caldwell, the Alcorn County Circuit Clerk and community leader extraordinaire, is retiring after selflessly dedicating 20 years of illustrious service and competent guidance to the wonderful people of the Alcorn County community; and

     WHEREAS, born on September 8, 1955, to Bobby and Dimple Caldwell, Joe was taught at a very young age to work hard and respect everyone, and he utilized those very wise mantras to

serve his role as a public servant with efficiency, effectiveness and an open door policy that respected each citizen's ideas and visions; and

     WHEREAS, Joe got his first taste of politics when his dad was elected to the Alcorn County School Board in 1974, but it was much later, in 1985, when Joe himself would dabble in the political realm, entering the Law Enforcement Officer's Academy and beginning a career for the Mississippi Department of Transportation; and

     WHEREAS, after a few years with MDOT, Joe was moved to the Mississippi Tax Commission as a special agent in 1992, and that move was the catalyst that led to his run for Alcorn County Circuit Clerk in 1999; and

     WHEREAS, upon assuming the role of Alcorn County Circuit Clerk, Mr. Caldwell tirelessly worked for the citizens of his beloved county, as he understood that the office belongs to them, and throughout his 20-year tenure, he strived daily to ensure that the needs of his community were met with kindness and competence; and

     WHEREAS, after 20 years of service to the people of Alcorn County as circuit clerk, retirement will surely leave an insatiable void for governing and mingling with Mississippi's finest in the heart of Mr. Caldwell, but he is overjoyed to relax and reflect on the countless number of remarkable people that have touched his life throughout his 20-year career as the Alcorn County Circuit Clerk; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the tireless devotion to the betterment of Mississippi and honor the ardent vow to impeccable public service that Mr. Joe Caldwell bestowed to the citizens of Mississippi as the Alcorn County Circuit Clerk:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the distinguished career and meritorious leadership and service that Mr. Joe Caldwell provided as the Alcorn County Circuit Clerk upon the occasion of his retirement, and extend sincere wishes for continued success and joy in the lighter days ahead.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Joe Caldwell and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
