A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING COACH LARRY TYRONE UPON HIS SELECTION AS AN INDUCTEE INTO THE VICKSBURG-WARREN SCHOOL DISTRICT ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME.

     WHEREAS, in recognition of his excellent leadership and outstanding success as a coach and mentor, Coach Larry Tyrone was inducted into the Vicksburg-Warren School District Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony held in late 2025 at the Vicksburg Convention Center; and

     WHEREAS, one of nine elite individuals selected for the 2025 class of inductees, Coach Tyrone stands apart for his outstanding achievements, steadfast dedication and longstanding contributions to the district's athletic programs and the overall school community; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Tyrone established himself as a cornerstone of one of the most successful athletic programs in the state, serving as a coach for track and field and football at Warren Central Junior High School and Warren Central High School from 1982 through 2017; and

     WHEREAS, in 1982, Coach Tyrone founded the school's first competitive eighth grade track team, laying the foundation for long-term success at the varsity level; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Tyrone also played a key role on the varsity football coaching staff as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator, and his leadership helped guide numerous players to college football opportunities, while many others credit his mentorship with shaping them into successful men beyond the field; and

     WHEREAS, always pushing his players to achieve more than they thought possible, Coach Tyrone was known for his demanding coaching style and creative disciplinary drills � famously labeled "Devil Dips" and "Gorillas" � and he earned widespread respect for his ability to develop both the skills and the character of his athletes; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Tyrone worked under four different head coaches in his 35 years as a coach for Warren Central, and he helped lead his teams to victory in 1988 and 1994 during the program's state championship seasons; and

     WHEREAS, dedicated to community engagement both for the school district and beyond, Coach Tyrone is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated and previously served as president of the Kappa Epsilon Sigma Chapter; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Tyrone's name remains synonymous with excellence throughout the halls of Warren Central, and it is most fitting to commend his remarkable career, his lasting impact on the Warren Central's strong tradition of athletic success and his role in shaping the school district's profound legacy; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians, especially those such as Coach Larry Tyrone, whose years of impeccable leadership and positive influence on generations of student-athletes represents the best of Vicksburg-Warren School District's rich athletic history:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Coach Larry Tyrone upon his selection as an inductee into the Vicksburg-Warren School District Athletics Hall of Fame, and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Larry Tyrone and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
