A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING ZAURIA CLARK ON BEING SELECTED AS THE 2023 STATE GAMES OF MISSISSIPPI YOUTH ATHLETE OF THE YEAR.
WHEREAS, Zauria Clark of Meridian, Mississippi, is the 2023 State Games of Mississippi Youth Athlete of the Year; and
WHEREAS, track and field star Zauria Clark, the daughter of Wende Moffit, attends Meridian High School, where she is on the track and field team and a South State champion, and she enjoys track and field because it pushes her to be a better person; and
WHEREAS, in the 2023 State Games, Zauria took home gold medals in the 100, 200 and 800 meter races along with the 4x100 relay race, and she also played on the State games softball and volleyball teams this year, as she always takes every opportunity to try new things; and
WHEREAS, throughout her track and field career, Zauria has credited her mom for most of her success, as her mom, who is a single mother to Zauria and her two sisters, has always emotionally, mentally and physically supported her in everything that she does; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians, especially those such as Zauria Clark, whose hard work and zealous dedication to her track and field team and the State Games have brought honor to the Meridian community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Zauria Clark on being selected as the 2023 State Games of Mississippi Youth Athlete of the Year, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Zauria Clark and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
