A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING FRANCES "SUE" WHITE UPON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE OCEAN SPRINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT AFTER 32 YEARS OF ILLUSTRIOUS SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Frances "Sue" White is retiring from the Ocean Springs School District after dedicating 32 years of unparalleled service to the district and its many wonderful students; and
WHEREAS, a true Greyhound at heart, Sue graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 1962, and went on to earn her bachelor of arts in education from William Carey University in 1980, and she then received her masters of education from William Carey University in 1992, and her specialist in education administration from the University of Mississippi in 1996; and
WHEREAS, Sue has been a dedicated employee of the Ocean Springs School District for 32 years, and has held many different positions throughout her career in education which include principal/administrator of the alternative school, teacher at Ocean Springs Junior High School and school receptionist/bookkeeper; and
WHEREAS, additionally, she has also served faithfully on the Ocean Springs School District Board of Trustees for five years, and was Board President for three of those years; and
WHEREAS, Frances "Sue" White was married to John E. White for 53 years, and they completed their family unit with the addition of three children; Owen White, Jennie (White) Gables and Kathy (White) Lantrip, and she is also the proud grandmother of five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, her deep love and respect for teaching has played a significant role in the betterment of the Ocean Springs School System, as her dedication and commitment to working with the school board over the years has had a profound impact on the education of many of the students in Ocean Springs; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippi educators, especially those such as Frances "Sue" White, whose dedication to her school and her students has brought honor and glory to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Frances "Sue" White upon her retirement from the Ocean Springs School District after 32 years of illustrious service and express sincere wishes for rest and relaxation in her lighter days ahead.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Frances "Sue" White and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
