A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DANIEL WILE UPON BEING NAMED THE 2025 STATE GAMES OF MISSISSIPPI OVERALL MALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR.

WHEREAS, Daniel Wile of Meridian, Mississippi, has been named the 2025 State Games of Mississippi Overall Male Athlete of the Year, an honor recognizing exceptional athletic performance, endurance, and sustained excellence across multiple disciplines; and

WHEREAS, Daniel has participated in endurance sports for more than a decade and has competed in the State Games of Mississippi on two occasions, earning one gold medal and one silver medal in cycling, as well as two gold medals and two silver medals in masters swimming; and

WHEREAS, during the 2025 State Games cycling competition, Daniel recorded an outstanding time of 00:55:14.76, finishing only milliseconds behind the gold medalist, a performance that reflects elite conditioning, discipline and competitive resolve; and

WHEREAS, Daniel's passion for cycling developed through triathlon training, and over the course of his athletic career, he has completed three Ironman races, including participation in the prestigious 2022 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, and was also named the 2021 Heart O' Dixie Triathlon Champion; and

WHEREAS, Daniel has expressed appreciation for the opportunity to focus exclusively on cycling during the State Games of Mississippi, noting that the absence of subsequent race segments allows athletes to fully test their physical limits and competitive capacity; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his athletic achievements, Daniel balances rigorous training with professional and personal responsibilities and credits his wife and family for their unwavering support, encouragement and sacrifice throughout his athletic journey; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippi athletes whose dedication, perseverance and accomplishments bring honor to their communities and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Daniel Wile upon being named the 2025 State Games of Mississippi Overall Male Athlete of the Year, and extend sincere best wishes for continued success in all his future athletic and personal endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Daniel Wile and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
