A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MARLENA JOBE ON BEING VOTED THE 2013-2014 BYRAM MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

     WHEREAS, Marlena Jobe, a language arts teacher at Byram Middle School in Byram, Mississippi, has been voted the 2013-2014 Byram Middle School Teacher of the Year; and

     WHEREAS, now in her fourth year of teaching at Byram Middle School, Ms. Jobe, who is certified as highly qualified to teach K-12 English and history, received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from Mississippi State University, where, as a senior in 2007, she was inducted into the College of Education's chapter of Kappa Delta Pi honor society, an international organization that promotes excellence in teacher training; and

     WHEREAS, a fabulous teacher with a maturity beyond her years, Ms. Jobe uses humor and a variety of creative teaching methods in the classroom to engage her middle school pupils by making the lessons being studied relevant to their lives, thus making learning exciting for the impressionable young minds under her tutelage; and

     WHEREAS, never letting a teachable moment slip away, Ms. Jobe, a positive role model who is fondly admired and loved by her students, works closely with a wide range of children from various socioeconomic backgrounds, with some having more academic and living skills challenges than others, to help all of her individual students reach their full potential; and

     WHEREAS, the Byram Middle School family is rightly proud to claim as one of their own Ms. Marlena Jobe, whose enthusiasm for teaching and success in touching the lives of students both in the classroom and in their transition into young adults is truly an inspiration to her fellow educators; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to pay special recognition to exceptional young Mississippians such as Marlena Jobe, an extraordinarily talented educator with a passion for teaching which is positively enriching and molding the lives of young Mississippians, who are the future of our state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Marlena Jobe, language arts teacher at Byram Middle School, on being voted 2013-2014 Byram Middle School Teacher of the Year and express best wishes for continued success in all of her future professional and personal endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Marlena Jobe, Byram Middle School and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
