A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING MS. JACQUELINE ERVIN FOR BEING CROWNED MISS RODEO MISSISSIPPI 2023.

     WHEREAS, Ms. Jacqueline Ervin of McComb, Mississippi, was crowned Miss Rodeo Mississippi 2023, a truly outstanding accomplishment; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Ervin is the 21-year-old daughter of Doug and Brandi Ervin, and the granddaughter of Randy and Jackie Braswell and the late Hershel and Dorothy Ervin; and

     WHEREAS, dedicated to academic excellence, Ms. Ervin is currently a senior at Mississippi State University and will graduate in the spring with a degree in business administration; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Ervin is a member of Delta Omega Chapter of Kappa Delta sorority where she has participated in community service, and has been involved in several philanthropic events including Girl Scouts and Prevent Child Abuse of America; and

     WHEREAS, in high school, Ms. Ervin was nominated by her senior class as "Most Friendly," and she was nominated and participated in the Azalea Court of McComb in 2019; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Ervin's hobbies include going on walks, hanging out with friends, riding her horses, and operating her online boutique, Quintz and Company, and as an interesting fact, she and four of her siblings are the first set of living quintuplets born in Mississippi in half a century; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Ervin has more than 11 years of experience with rodeos, horse shows, and other activities that will help her be a quality ambassador for the sport of rodeo, the State of Mississippi, and the western way of life; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Ervin won the title Grand Champion from the TTES Riding Club, as well as earned Reserve Champion from the Liverpool Riding Club, and she also qualified for NBHA Worlds for four years in a row and is a three-time Dixie National flag girl; and

     WHEREAS, no stranger to the Miss Rodeo Mississippi Foundation, in January 2021, Ms. Ervin was crowned the 2021 Miss Dixie National as the official ambassador for the Dixie National

Livestock and Rodeo Show; and

     WHEREAS, since she was a young girl, Ms. Ervin has always had a love for animals and the western lifestyle, and that makes her truly honored to be crowned Miss Rodeo Mississippi 2023; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize outstanding Mississippians, especially those such as Ms. Ervin, whose remarkable accomplishments bring honor to the Miss Rodeo Mississippi Foundation and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and commend Ms. Jacqueline Ervin for being crowned Miss Rodeo Mississippi 2023, and extend best wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Jacqueline Ervin, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
