House Resolution 206
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM AND FORMER HEAD COACH GABRIELLE MOORE FOR WINNING THE 2022 SOUTHWESTERN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP AND THE 2022 SOUTHWESTERN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Jackson State University Women's Tennis Team and former Head Coach Gabrielle Moore successfully completed their 2022 season to be named the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Regular Season Champions and the 2022 SWAC Tournament Champions; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers, who had a superior season that was driven by more than just the yearning to succeed, intensely amplified all of their hard work, motivation and audacity, which were so apparent all through the season, for the ultimate tennis match, where they edged out their opponents and collected their third SWAC tennis title in program history; and
WHEREAS, in addition to winning the championships, the following outstanding Lady Tigers were given individual awards: Tyra-Nicole Whyte was named 1st Team All-SWAC and SWAC All-Tournament Team; Daniela Ramos and Zeina Shabaan were also named 1st Team All-SWAC; Paula Arcarons was named the SWAC Tournament MVP; Robin Alston was named SWAC All-Tournament Team; and former Head Coach Gabrielle Moore was named SWAC Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the Jackson State Lady Tigers Tennis Team played with nothing but heart and soul all season and have a very talented and distinguished roster; and
WHEREAS, former Head Coach Gabrielle Moore has superbly coached and inspired the Lady Tigers and broadened their knowledge of the game while refining their skills in execution, and she continues to build upon the legacy of superior play and true sportsmanship forged by the tenacious and undaunted spirit of each team member; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the achievements of student-athletes such as the Jackson State University Lady Tigers Tennis Team, who have brought honor to their school and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Jackson State University Women's Tennis Team and former Head Coach Gabrielle Moore for winning the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Regular Season Championship and the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament Championship and extend best wishes for continued success in all their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to former Head Coach Gabrielle Moore and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
