A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING AND COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MRS. ETHEL JEFFERSON OF JAYESS, MISSISSIPPI, AND CONGRATULATING HER UPON THE OCCASION OF CELEBRATING HER 90TH BIRTHDAY.

WHEREAS, on February 4, 2011, Mrs. Ethel Jefferson of Jayess, Mississippi, will celebrate the occasion of her 90th anniversary of life in recognition of her date of birth; and

WHEREAS, during the course of her nine decades, Mrs. Jefferson has witnessed America evolve and transform from an agrarian society to an advanced technological industrial giant, and on her watch she has observed the actions of several United States presidents, Magnolia State governors and the monumentally historic election of President Barack H. Obama as the United States' first African-American president; and

WHEREAS, having met the late Frank Jefferson at life's intersection of love and affection, in March of 1939 the two were united in matrimonial bonds after a loving courtship, and shared a wonderful marriage full of love, respect and honor, which was blessed with nine children; and

WHEREAS, exemplary of her Christ-like love, she always put the needs of her family of five generations before her own in a selfless display of her love and nurturing spirit, which shows up daily in her life without complaint; and

WHEREAS, known for her steadfast service to the church and God, Mrs. Jefferson believed service to be rewarding in divine favor granted in the form of mercy and grace, and taught her children that serving the Lord forever pays off; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor and commend the life of such an astonishingly noble, experienced and gentle soul as Mrs. Jefferson, whose life is a testament of her faith in God:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby acknowledge and commend the life of Mrs. Ethel Jefferson, congratulate her upon the occasion of celebrating her 90th anniversary of life in recognition of her date of birth and extend warmest wishes for many more years of good health, love and peace.
