A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MRS. TENSYE LEE MCCREE AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HER PASSING.

WHEREAS, Tensye Lee McCree, born in Jasper County on October 29, 1930, departed this earthly life on January 13, 2010, to enter into eternal rest with her Heavenly Father, causing great sorrow and loss to her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, growing up in a strong Christian home, she professed her love for Christ at an early age, and she joined Tioch Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in Rose Hill, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. McCree attended Jasper County Schools where she was loved, nurtured and respected by her teachers and classmates, and her outgoing spirit found a platform as she began speaking and using her gift of singing in school programs, developing a unique untouchable sense of style as her signature, one that she always wore with grace, even while she earned the honor of graduating class salutatorian and going on to further her education at Tennessee State University; and

WHEREAS, her love for her family caused her to leave no stones unturned in providing for her children, and as her family relocated, she led them in continuing to grow in their faith, worshipping and serving in Pratt Memorial United Methodist Church, New Hope Baptist Church and later in First Baptist Church of Heidelberg; and

WHEREAS, with the help of her beloved husband, Alton McCree, Sr., her life's devotion and sacrifice were encapsulated in the following prayer:  that her children would grow up healthy and strong, that they would be able to provide for themselves, and most importantly, that they would live their lives as exemplary Christian men and women; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. McCree's professional career included diverse experiences as a teacher, factory worker, home health care provider and retail sales manager, all in an effort to create a comfortable, warm and loving home life for her family because she was happiest when she could provide a home for her children and grandchildren to gather where she could shower them with her special treats, cakes and pies; and

WHEREAS, though she has traversed the river of life to now stand on golden heavenly shores, the legacy of her memory will continue in the lives of her survivors, including:  her husband of 56 years, Alton McCree, Sr.; children, Jeanette McCree, Barbara McCree, Harmon McCree, Altha Faye Myles, Victor M. McCree, Darrell McCree and Alton McCree, Jr.; her 99-year-old mother, Lillie Pearl McGilberry; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. McCree was preceded in death by her brother, Cubie Wilson, and her father, Harvey; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the life of such a truly remarkable and giving individual as Mrs. McCree:
