House Resolution 157

(As Adopted by House)

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE COURAGE AND BRAVERY OF MR. BRUCE CROWE AND COMMENDING HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE DURING WORLD WAR II ON BEHALF OF THIS GREAT NATION.

WHEREAS, Mr. Bruce Crowe, who is currently 101 years old and one of the oldest living World War II veterans in the State of Mississippi, distinguished himself as a fearless hero in the United States Army when he nobly put his life on the line to protect the freedoms of all Americans during World War II; and

WHEREAS, after the relations between the United States and the hostile Axis Powers had diminished and caused Lady Liberty to engage the extremist regime in World War II, Mr. Crowe joined an elite fraternity of soldiers in the United States Army and was sworn in and sent to Camp Fannin, Texas, for Army infantry training in 1945; and

WHEREAS, while in training, Mr. Crowe got word that his baby girl was being born back home, and he hitchhiked all the way home to meet his first born daughter, and afterwards he returned to training, and soon was sent to the Philippines and served in the Battle of Iwo Jima; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Crowe remained a steadfast and brave soldier for the United States of America, and with his unparalleled bravery and patriotism, he valiantly served for one year and helped facilitate victory for the United States in World War II, and was able to return home to his family; and

WHEREAS, born September 22, 1921, Mr. Crowe currently resides in his home in Rienzi, Mississippi, and is the oldest of five generations of Crowes, and he was married to his sweetheart of 72 years before her passing in 2014, and has five children; and

WHEREAS, some gave all in World War II, the ultimate price to pay in order to protect the American way of life, and Mr. Crowe stood through for the red, white and blue, as his unflinching courage and gallant sacrifice reflects lasting honor upon himself and upholds the noble traditions of the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor heroic Mississippians such as Mr. Crowe for his dauntless fortitude and his remarkable dedication to the United States of America and to the people of the State of Mississippi, who are eternally appreciative, for without him, the freedom they know and love would not be possible:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize the courage and bravery of Mr. Bruce Crowe and commend his distinguished service during World War II on behalf of this great nation.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Bruce Crowe and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
