A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MCCOMB HIGH SCHOOL TIGERS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH HILTON HARRELL FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2012-2013 SEASON AND FOR WINNING DISTRICT 6 5A, SOUTH STATE RUNNER-UP AND A TRIP TO THE FINAL FOUR.
WHEREAS, the McComb High School Tigers Boys Basketball Team finished the 2012-2013 season with a 23-10 record and a trip to the final four for the second time in three years; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers did very well winning the Brookhaven tournament, the South Pike tournament, the district tournament and finishing South State runner-up by defeating the number one ranked team in the state, the Wayne County War Eagles; and
WHEREAS, several of the Tigers have been recognized for their hard work, dedication and superior play this season, including Antonio Johnson, Shemar Williams and Stacey Mack who were named to the All-State team; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Hilton Harrell and Assistant Coaches Zebton Wells, Marcus Howard and Charleston Gray, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, Coach Hilton Harrell has brought additional honors to himself and McComb High School by being Coach of the Year in District 6 5A two times in the last three years; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to McComb High School; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the McComb High School Tigers Boys Basketball Team and Head Coach Hilton Harrell for winning District 6 5A Championship, finishing as South State runner-up and a trip to the final four, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to McComb High School, Head Coach Hilton Harrell and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
