A RESOLUTION COMMENDING PRINCIPAL COREY USELTON FOR HIS IMPRESSIVE LEADERSHIP AT DESOTO CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL AND FOR BEING NAMED DESOTO COUNTY, SCHOOLS ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR 2013.
WHEREAS, Principal Cory Uselton of Desoto Central High School has been named Desoto County Schools Administrator of the Year 2013; and
WHEREAS, although he is currently in his fourth year as Principal of Desoto Central in Southaven, Mississippi, Principal Uselton is credited for improving test scores of students, job performance of teachers and relations among the rest of the administrative team; and
WHEREAS, these vast improvements throughout Desoto Central High School under his leadership caused him to be chosen over 42 other administrators throughout DeSoto County Schools in earning the prestigious recognition as Administrator of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Principal Uselton sees his school of 1,600 students as a microcosm for the state at large, with his team of 83 teachers geared toward improving ACT scores and preparing students for life after study at one of the largest high schools in the state; and
WHEREAS, a father of two young boys, Principal Uselton emphasizes the importance for teachers and administrators to have empathy and look for the best interest of students; and
WHEREAS, a man of humility, Principal Uselton notes that, "We have 42 great schools and there is a great principal at every one of them."; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding educators whose mission is to enhance the lives of our youth by inspiring them to be their best:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Principal Corey Uselton for his impressive leadership at Desoto Central High School and for being named Desoto County Schools Administrator of the Year 2013.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Principal Corey Uselthon and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
