A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MRS. JOYCE WOODRUFF PROCTOR, AND EXPRESSING SYMPATHY UPON HER PASSING.

     WHEREAS, it is written in II Corinthians 4:17-18, "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal," and as such, Mrs. Joyce Woodruff Proctor, departed this earth on January 1, 2019, to rest eternally with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; and

     WHEREAS, she was born to Lena Mae Sharp and Sam Woodruff of Jackson, but educated in the Rankin County School System, where she attended Carter High School in Brandon; and

     WHEREAS, Joyce found love early in life and married Kenneth Proctor; and

     WHEREAS, she was blessed with five exceptional children whom she raised in the admonition of the Lord and taught them the value of good citizenship; and

     WHEREAS, she was most well known for her cooking skills, which she proudly displayed at the Lo Price Sak Fish House restaurant in the Farish Street Historic District; and

     WHEREAS, it was said that Mrs. Joyce would prepare meals for friends, family and people that she met for the first time, she never met a stranger; and

     WHEREAS, to cherish her memory, Joyce leaves five children: Mark, Michelle, Andre (Laramie), Steven (Tammy) and Roderick (Melissa); 15 grandchildren, Mario (Tinisha), Tomeka, Terry, Antoine, Ashley, Damion, Andre, Clarissa, Miguel, Chantel, Theorsio, Tyreese, Kaila, Hayden and Josiah; 8

great-grandchildren, Miya, Makailah, Mariya, Tamarion, Eriyelle, Damon, Star and Aaden; three brothers, Johnny, Randy and Maurice (Crystal); two sisters, Maria (Rodney) and Maureen (Cornelius); a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the lives of Mississippians who have served their community and their families:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life of Mrs. Joyce Woodruff Proctor, and express sympathy upon her passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mrs. Joyce Woodruff Proctor and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
