A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING ASHLEY BUSE UPON BEING NAMED MRS. MISSISSIPPI 2016.

     WHEREAS, on February 28, 2016, Mrs. Ashley Buse, representing her home city of Tupelo, Mississippi, was crowned Mrs. Mississippi 2016; and

     WHEREAS, holding the distinct honor and privilege of being titled Mrs. Mississippi, Mrs. Buse will represent Mississippi at the Mrs. America pageant later this year in Las Vegas; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Buse, originally from Belzoni, Mississippi, graduated Salutatorian of Humphreys Academy, where she played basketball, softball, ran track, was a member of the cheerleading team and participated in 4-H events; and

     WHEREAS, she was also the editor of the school annual and vice president of her class, in recognition of her outstanding leadership and scholarship she received the DAR Good Citizen Award and was named Student of the Month; and

     WHEREAS, while furthering her education at Arkansas Tech University, Mrs. Buse played college softball and college basketball before ultimately graduating from Mississippi State University with a degree in chemistry and biology in 2006; and

     WHEREAS, while attending Mississippi State, Mrs. Buse received the Dr. Will D. Carpenter Science Scholarship Award and was an active member of Phi Theta Kappa; and

     WHEREAS, while competing for Mrs. America in Las Vegas, Nevada, Mrs. Buse's platform will be "think smART," a program that emphasizes art therapy and art education; and

     WHEREAS, at home in Tupelo, Mrs. Buse is a medical device sales representative for Medtronic, she volunteers with the Boys and Girls Club of North Mississippi, she is involved with the Tupelo Women's Club and the Tupelo Public Schools Parent Teacher Organization; and

     WHEREAS, in her spare time, Mrs. Buse enjoys painting, sewing and running in addition to spending time with her family, her husband, Dennis Buse works for Farm Bureau and together they have three children, Tripp, Foley and Jones; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to share in the enthusiasm of citizens of this state as they represent Mississippi through a great title, such as Mrs. Buse as she serves as Mrs. Mississippi on a statewide and national level:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Ashley Buse upon receiving the distinct honor and privilege of holding the title of Mrs. Mississippi 2016, and extend best wishes for success as she represents Mississippi in the Mrs. America Pageant later this year.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Ashley Buse and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
