A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE SUPERB TEACHING CAREER OF MRS. ELAINE LANN LOFTIN UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM HAMILTON ATTENDANCE CENTER AND CONGRATULATING HER FOR BEING NAMED HAMILTON ATTENDANCE CENTER'S TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

     WHEREAS, after teaching at Oak Hill Academy in West Point, Mississippi, for 14 years and Hamilton Attendance Center in Hamilton, Mississippi, for the past 25 years, Mrs. Elaine Lann Loftin will be leaving the classroom she loves so dearly and will retire this May, 2017, leaving behind a legacy of wisdom and unwavering dedication to her profession; and

     WHEREAS, in recognition of her exemplary service to further the education of the children of Hamilton Attendance Center, the school recently honored Mrs. Loftin with this year's Teacher of the Year Award; and

     WHEREAS, a graduate of Mississippi State University, Mrs. Loftin has taught children in kindergarten through sixth grades in a variety of subjects over the course of her career; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Loftin, filled with an eagerness to mold the impressionable minds of the younger generation, played a vital role in equipping the children in her classes with the life lessons and wisdom that would be essential for each of them to reach their full potential, fulfill their dreams and achieve greatness; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Loftin is married to David Loftin and the couple has two children, Kate Loftin Gilreath (husband, Jim Gilreath) and Christopher Loftin (wife, Douglas Loftin), and three grandchildren that she undoubtedly looks forward to spending more time with, Mack, Henley and Loftin Gilreath; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the career accomplishments of great educators, such as Mrs. Loftin, whose passion and dedication for educating the youth of this state will never be forgotten:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Elaine Lann Loftin upon the occasion of her retirement from teaching and for receiving the Hamilton Attendance Center Teacher of the Year Award, and extend best wishes for continued peace and prosperity in the lighter years of her retirement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Elaine Lann Loftin and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
