A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING LAURIE
TAFT MCILRATH FOR BEING SELECTED AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE
PERKINSTON CAMPUS OF MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
WHEREAS, Laurie Taft McIlrath, a resident of Perkinston, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and
WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of the instructor's teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and
WHEREAS, a skilled psychology instructor, Mrs. McIlrath has been employed and taught at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past seven years; and
WHEREAS, she received an associate of arts degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, a bachelor of science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master of science degree from Augusta State University; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. McIlrath serves as a member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College LCR and Judicial Committees, as a SACS team member, and as an Emergency Action Plan responder; and
WHEREAS, a talented woman who selflessly serves her community, she is a professional development presenter and a member of the American Psychological Association, received the Humanities Teacher of the Year and Master Teacher certification, is a Perkinston Elementary School volunteer and a member of St. Francis Xavier Church; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend such an outstanding teacher as Laurie Taft McIlrath, who has dedicated her career to teaching the young people of this state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE
CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Laurie Taft McIlrath for being selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. McIlrath and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
