A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DELORIS COMPSTON FOR BEING SELECTED AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE PERKINSTON CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
WHEREAS, Deloris Compston, a resident of Perkinston, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and
WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators, on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and
WHEREAS, Deloris Compston, a nursing instructor, has been employed and has taught at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past five years; and
WHEREAS, Deloris Compston received her associate degree in nursing from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and her master of science degree in nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Deloris Compston serves as a member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Perkinston Campus Learning Resources Committee, Nursing Department Team Leader; QEP Implementation Committee; Basic Life Support Instructor for Continuing Education; Ad Hoc Accreditation Cochair; Ad Hoc Curriculum Implementation Committee; PALS Committee; Outcomes Committee; and Level 2 Liaison SBCJC — Practical Nursing Curriculum Committee; and
WHEREAS, Deloris Compston is a member of the Mississippi Nurses Association, the National Organization of Associate Degree Nurses, the Mississippi Organization of Associate Degree Nurses and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing; and
WHEREAS, Deloris Compston is a member of Paramount Baptist Church, Vice President of the Paramount Baptist Church Women's Auxiliary, Counselor for the Paramount Baptist Church Girls Missionary Auxiliary and a member of the Paramount Baptist Church Adult Choir; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding teachers, such as Deloris Compston, who have dedicated their careers to teaching the young people of this state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE
CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Deloris Compston for being selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Deloris Compston and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
