A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING J.Z. GEORGE HIGH SCHOOL UPON BEING NAMED BY U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT MAGAZINE AS ONE OF THE NATION'S TOP ACADEMIC SCHOOLS.
WHEREAS, J.Z. George High School of Carroll County, Mississippi, was named one of U.S. News and World Report magazine's best schools in the nation based on the school's superior academic performance in Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, after researching some 21,000 public schools in America, U.S. News and World Report magazine, in collaboration with School Evaluation Services, Inc., designated J.Z. George High School a bronze category school in 2009; and
WHEREAS, since the first day of class almost a century ago, J.Z. George has been up to date in both curriculum and the technology afforded to Mississippi schools, and the positive outcomes of its enlightening instruction are seen statewide and nationwide; and
WHEREAS, before receiving the bronze category school designation, J.Z. George had been working hard to add to its curriculum instruction in areas such as allied health, buildings and trades, agriculture, and family consumer sciences; and
WHEREAS, in its 90 years of existence, J.Z. George has led the way in the Magnolia State's educational system by providing leadership to its students who are now more qualified and better prepared for today's demanding world; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize outstanding Mississippians such as the students, faculty and staff of J.Z. George High School for their hard work and brilliant academic accomplishments, which are a source of great pride to the Magnolia State:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate J.Z. George High School on being named one of the U.S. News and World Report magazine's best schools in the nation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be
furnished to J.Z. George High School, Superintendent Billy Joe Ferguson, the Carroll County School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
