A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE BRANDON HIGH SCHOOL LADY BULLDOGS SOCCER TEAM AND HEAD COACH CELESTE BRAMLETT FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2011-2012 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Brandon High School Lady Bulldogs Soccer Team finished the 2011-2012 season with an outstanding 20 victories and emerged as the 2012 Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 6A Girls Soccer Championship title; and

     WHEREAS, being incredibly well-disciplined young ladies, the Lady Bulldogs performed extremely well in the 2011-2012 state playoffs, and on February 4, 2012, the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Tupelo High School Golden Wave with a score of 1-0 in the MHSAA Class 6A State Championship game at Clinton High School in Clinton, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, in becoming the 2012 MHSAA Class 6A Girls Soccer State Champions, the Lady Bulldogs invested countless measures of hard work above and beyond the level of other teams, beginning this effort in the late summer months and continuing through early February; and

     WHEREAS, adding to the trophy case, the Lady Bulldogs have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Celeste Bramlett, who in reflecting upon the season said, "I knew we had a solid group of girls and I knew they were talented," which is evidenced in the team's overall record of 20-2-3 this season; and

     WHEREAS, Tupelo never scored during the championship matchup and Brandon scored one goal, pulling out their first State Championship title in the history of the Lady Bulldogs Soccer program; and

     WHEREAS, the incredible 2011-2012 season for Brandon was led by junior Emily Breland with 16 goals and 17 assists, sophomore Hannah Bailey with 19 goals and 8 assists, senior Breanna Green with 17 goals and 7 assists, sophomore Emily McGowan with 10 goals and 10 assists and sophomore goalie Katie Pearson, who had 16 shutouts and 91 saves; and

     WHEREAS, the 2011-2012 Lady Bulldogs Varsity Roster is comprised of the following athletes: Katelyn Watson, Lauren Marler, Autumn Belcher, Brittany Farrar, Emily Breland, Lacey Leddy, Mary Clark Joyner, Taylor Ballard, Sarah Keeton Odom, Lexie Turner, Laura Quintero, Bailey McCarver, Kayla Love, Hannah Bailey, Carlee Leber, Abbi Jordan, Emily McGowan, Presley McLemore, Ashlan Culberson, Katie Pearson, Breanna Green and Sarah Dongieux; and assistant coaches, Rebecca Hayman and Preston Nailor; and

     WHEREAS, after a remarkable season and an incredible championship game against the Golden Wave, the Lady Bulldogs finished with an extraordinary ranking of sixth in the nation; and

     WHEREAS, in their tireless dedication, the Lady Bulldogs have developed a winning, cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitudes reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach, bringing honor to Brandon High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Brandon High School Lady Bulldogs Soccer Team and Head Coach Celeste Bramlette for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 6A Girls Soccer championship title and extend best wishes to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors for continued success in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Bramlette, Principal Buddy Bailey, the Rankin County School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
