A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING BAPTIST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-GOLDEN TRIANGLE UPON RECEIVING AN "A" RATING FOR TEN CONSECUTIVE YEARS.
WHEREAS, once again, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle received an A-rating for hospital safety from the Leapfrog Group, making it the only hospital in Mississippi to receive straight A's in patient safety for 10 consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, caring for residents of the East Mississippi and West Alabama area for more than 45 years, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle is a 315-bed acute care hospital located in Columbus, Mississippi, and it is the largest entity hospital in the Baptist Memorial Health Care system; and
WHEREAS, Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public, provides consumer-friendly, patient-reported data and research to help patients make informed decisions about one of the most critical aspects of their hospital stay, which is patient safety, and grades are assigned to nearly 3,000 general acute-care hospitals across the nation twice each year, based on up to 30 performance measures such as errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm; and
WHEREAS, the Leapfrog Group has awarded Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle an "A" Safety Grade every biannual grading cycle since 2012, and Spring 2022 marked the hospital's tenth consecutive year to receive an "A" grade, and it is one of only 22 hospitals in the United States to achieve straight "A" grades in every grading cycle in the last 10 years, a truly outstanding achievement; and
WHEREAS, with more than 100 physicians and surgeons representing nearly every medical specialty, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle provides a full range of comprehensive medical services, and strives to provide high-quality health care services and emphasize patient safety; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize outstanding Mississippi hospitals, especially those such as Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, whose dedication to the safety of its patients brings honor to the field of healthcare and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and commend Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle upon receiving an "A" rating for 10 consecutive years.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
