A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING HEAD COACH LONNY SCHRAEDER FOR HIS REMARKABLE DEDICATION AND OUTSTANDING SERVICE UPON HIS RETIREMENT AS HEAD COACH OF THE SACRED HEART  CATHOLIC SCHOOL CRUSADERS FOOTBALL TEAM.

     WHEREAS, after seven seasons of tirelessly coaching the Sacred Heart Catholic School Crusaders Football Team, and another 25 years of teaching and coaching at Sumrall, Petal and Oak Grove, Head Coach Lonny Schraeder leaves an outstanding legacy of 32 years in public education upon his retirement-a legacy that will certainly last for years to come; and

     WHEREAS, since becoming head coach for the Sacred Heart Football Team in 2012, Coach Schraeder has tremendously inspired and superbly coached the Crusaders, and he has remained a constant positive influence for the team during his tenure, as he built Sacred Heart's football program to the incredible greatness that it is today; and

     WHEREAS, in 2016, Coach Schraeder led the Crusaders to their first playoff appearance in school history, and with full hearts and unimaginable amounts of strength, the Crusaders finished the season with an outstanding record, a true testament to Coach Schraeder's phenomenal leadership; and

     WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished coaching career, Coach Schraeder has used his talent, experience and abilities, despite his own personal disabilities, when he coached for other Pine Belt schools before finding his place at Sacred Heart, including Petal High School, where he was an assistant coach before becoming head coach in 2001, and he further coached for Oak Grove High School in 2005 as an assistant coach, until he joined Sacred Heart as head coach for the football team in 2012; and

     WHEREAS, through his professional contributions to numerous high school football programs and high school student-athletes, as well as his incredible community leadership, Coach Schraeder certainly exemplifies the virtues of perseverance in the face of adversity, devotion to his student-athletes, to his community, and to his family, inspiring all of those around him to strive for excellence each day; and

     WHEREAS, as an individual who, by personal resolve, persistence and endeavor, has selflessly contributed to the students of the schools where he coached and surrounding communities, Coach Schraeder leaves behind a deep-rooted legacy at not only Sacred Heart, but also each school he has touched; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians, especially those such as Coach Schraeder, who has devoted his entire career to helping student-athletes achieve their fullest potential and who has brought honor to his schools, his community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and honor Head Coach Lonny Schraeder upon the occasion of his retirement as head coach of the Sacred Heart Crusaders Catholic School Football Team, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Lonny Schraeder and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
