House Concurrent Resolution 34

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION TO CREATE A NEW JOINT RULE NO. 41 TO REQUIRE THAT All PROPOSED BUDGET LEGISLATION, ALONG WITH THE AGENDA OF EACH HOUSE AND SENATE COMMITTEE MEETING THAT SUCH LEGISLATION APPEARS UPON, BE PROVIDED TO EACH MEMBER OF THE MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE NO LESS THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE THE TIME OF A STANDING COMMITTEE MEETING IS SCHEDULED TO MEET DURING ITS STANDING COMMITTEE TIME.

     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That a new Joint Rule No. 41 is created to read as follows:

     41.  (1)  All proposed budget legislation, along with the agenda of each House and Senate committee meeting that such legislation appears upon, shall be provided to each member of the Mississippi Legislature no less than forty-eight (48) hours before the time of a standing committee meeting is scheduled to meet during its standing committee time. 

     All proposed budget legislation, along with the agenda of each House and Senate committee meeting that such legislation appears upon, shall be provided to each member of the Mississippi Legislature within reasonable time before each House and Senate committee meeting that is scheduled to meet at any time other than its standing committee meeting time.

     (2)  All committee meeting agendas shall contain the following information:  (a) the name of the committee, (b) the date and time of the meeting, and (c) the short title of each bill that is to be discussed during such meeting.
