A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NESHOBA CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL LADY ROCKETS AND HEAD COACH TRAE EMBRY ON WINNING THE 2017 Mississippi High School Activities Association CLASS III SLOW-PITCH SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Neshoba Central High School Lady Rockets won the  2017 MHSAA Class III Slow-Pitch Softball Championship, the sixth straight year they have brought home the championship trophy, and  they have truly become a power-hitting team that has dominated the State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, with 167 home runs, 10 triples, 86 doubles and a batting average of .544, the team's statistics were most impressive for the 2017 slow-pitch season; and 

     WHEREAS, the team's overall record for the 2017 slow-pitch season was 32-1, with a combined record of 184-21 during the six championship years and an extraordinary zero losses in all of the championship series during the past six years; and

     WHEREAS, the 2017 Neshoba Central Lady Rockets roster is composed of the following talented athletes:  Sindle Williams, Mataeya Dixon, Hailey Williams, Tori Henderson, Hamaya Fielder, Hallie Billie, Tenly Grisham, Emily Berry, Kylee Thompson, Nautica Bacon, Reese Paige, Kenadie Quick, Makenzie Barnett, Rodezah Smith, Jayda Ben, Tanna McClellan, Destiny Dill, Elleigh Willis, Shante Beaulieu, Kaylee Lathem, Heather Nicholson, Mary Kate Hardy, Kylie Posey, Allie Williams and Alex Bowden; and Head Coach, Trae Embry; and

     WHEREAS, the key to the team's success each year has been their good defense and pitching, power-hitting, amazing team spirit and year-round hard work; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend student-athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Neshoba Central High School Lady Rockets and Head Coach Trae Embry for winning the 2017 Mississippi High School Activities Association Class III Slow-Pitch Softball Championship and for an overall outstanding season, and further extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for future success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Trae Embry and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
