A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING MISSISSIPPI'S VETERANS FOR THEIR VALIANT SERVICE PROVIDED TO PROTECT THE FREEDOMS AND ENSURE THE INDEPENDENCE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. 

WHEREAS, upon the celebration of our nation's birth, it is appropriate to honor and commend Mississippi's veterans for their valiant service provided to protect the freedoms and ensure the independence of the United States of America; and

WHEREAS, having fought in war and conflict and defended the country in times of peace, the State of Mississippi has been served by countless citizens who have made tremendous sacrifices to preserve the freedoms we often take for granted; and

WHEREAS, on July 4, 2013, we celebrate our great nation's birth and independence 237 years ago, when our forefathers adopted the Declaration of Independence; and

WHEREAS, we take great pride in each of our state's remarkable veterans, and we take the time on this day to celebrate them and their service; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend such noble heroes of our state, such as its veterans, who bravely and courageously sacrificed their lives for the State of Mississippi and the United States of America:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do honor and commend Mississippi's veterans for their valiant service provided to protect the freedoms and ensure the independence of the United States of America, and express our sincere wish for future prosperity and good health.  

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
