A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. OLGA MURIEL CRENSHAW ON CELEBRATING THE MOST AUSPICIOUS OCCASION OF THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF HER BIRTH ON AUGUST 25, 1915.

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Olga Muriel Crenshaw, born August 25, 1915, to Mr. Thomas Eugene Driskell and Mrs. Gertrude Lenora Ozborn Driskell, celebrated the 100th anniversary of her birth on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, celebrating and acknowledging her many years of love, friendship and happiness with friends and family members at Neshoba Baptist Church in Union, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, well known across Union, Mississippi, Mrs. Crenshaw found her heart pierced by the love and affection of Mr. Burnace Edward Crenshaw and the two were wed on December 2, 1933, and after exchanging sacred vows at the marriage alter, they welcomed to their union one son, Selby Allen Crenshaw, and one granddaughter, Connie Amanda Crenshaw, to share in the light of their love and the forging of a lifetime of memories; and

     WHEREAS, while calling Union, Mississippi, home, Mrs. Crenshaw worked at Hugh Matthews Grocery Store for many years, bringing her insatiable joy for life to work with her each day until her retirement; and

     WHEREAS, a woman of profound faith, Mrs. Crenshaw attended New Ireland Baptist Church for many years, until she and her family moved to the Neshoba community in the mid 1970s, where she began attending Neshoba Baptist Church, the church she still regularly attends each Sunday morning; and

     WHEREAS, upon retiring, Mrs. Crenshaw furthered her love of sewing, quilting, gardening and baking pies; whether sharing her bountiful harvest, her quilts, or her wonderful pies, she has always shared her many passions in life with those blessed to call her a mother, an adviser or a friend; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend the life of outstanding individuals such as Mrs. Olga Muriel Crenshaw, who has lived her life by faith, spreading joy and kindness at every turn, as she celebrates this most auspicious occasion of joining the centenarian club with her family, friends and her church:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life of Mrs. Olga Muriel Crenshaw, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of her birth on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, and express sincere wishes for continued health, joy, peace and prosperity for years to come.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Olga Muriel Crenshaw and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
