A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE 2012 AND 2013 RETIREES OF THE GREENWOOD PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THEIR MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE.

     WHEREAS, the following persons retired from the Greenwood Public School District during the 2011-2012 school year:  Frank Austin, Custodian, 30 years of service; Charles Brooks, Director of Special Education, 38 years of service; Brenda F. Brown, Alternative Program Director, 12 years of service; Lue Emma Childs, Special Education Assistant, 10 years of service; Jo Ann Elmore, Librarian, 21 years of service; Brenda Hurst, Secretary to the Superintendent, 43 years of service; Martha Ingram, Cafeteria Worker, 21.5 years of service; Doris Long, Secretary, 25 years of service; Bobbie McGary, Teacher, 12.25 years of service; Debra Miller, Teacher, 30 years of service; Jeffie Delle Scott, Teacher, 27 years of service; and Susan Smith, Teacher, 28 years of service; and

     WHEREAS, in addition, the following persons have retired or announced their intentions to retire from the Greenwood Public School District during the 2012-2013 school year:  Sharian Ainsworth, Secretary, 35.75 years of service; Mary Ann Crowder, Elementary Counselor, 16.75 years of service; Jo B. Flautt, Teacher, 16.5 years of service; Gail Griggs, Band Director, 28 years of service; Gail Long, Cafeteria Manager, 17 years of service; Shirley Morton, Cafeteria Manager, 15 years of service; Margie Pulley, Superintendent, 38 years of service; Kathleen Shackelford, Speech Pathologist, 29 years of service; Annie B. Williams, Teacher, 28.5 years of service; and Mary Louise Woods, Cafeteria Manager, 38.75 years of service; and

     WHEREAS, through tireless dedication and loving patience over many years, these treasured educators and staff members of the Greenwood School District have made Mississippi a better state by teaching, both in the classroom and as positive role models, the state's children to become productive, God-fearing, responsible citizens who will write the next chapter in the book of Mississippi's history; and

     WHEREAS, these priceless individuals have greatly contributed to the success of the Greenwood Public School District and will be sorely missed by the schools and offices in which they served; and

     WHEREAS, the citizens of Greenwood and the entire State of Mississippi owe an immeasurable debt to these retirees of the Greenwood Public School District as they enjoy the lighter days of their long-awaited retirement; and

     WHEREAS, it is most appropriate that this Legislature respectfully acknowledge the 2012 and 2013 retirees of the Greenwood Public School District who, by laying a firm educational foundation on which untold numbers of Greenwood students may build their future success, have greatly benefited not only the individual lives of many, but the entire State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize, commend and congratulate the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 retirees of the Greenwood Public School District and express to these dedicated educators and staff members our sincere appreciation for their selfless service in educating the youth of this state.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to each of the retirees named in this resolution, the Board of Trustees of the Greenwood Public School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
