House Concurrent Resolution 106

(As Adopted by House and Senate)

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MISS KAYLA SNOW OF EGYPT, MISSISSIPPI, UPON BEING NAMED AS MISS UNIVERSITY 2012 AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI.

WHEREAS, on February 1, 2012, Miss Kayla Snow of Egypt, Mississippi, was crowned Miss University 2012 at the University of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, the 2008 honors graduate of Houston High School is no stranger to the pageant stage or to winning pageant titles, as Miss Snow has previously been crowned with the titles of Outstanding Teen and Miss Mid South 2010, which was a preliminary pageant to the 2010 Miss Mississippi Pageant; and

WHEREAS, Miss Snow's Miss Mid South title brought her to Vicksburg, Mississippi, to compete in the 2011 Miss Mississippi Pageant, and her experience as a competitor in that pageant sealed her desire to return and compete again for the title of Miss Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, with her latest title of Miss University, Miss Snow will return to Vicksburg to compete in the 2012 Miss Mississippi Pageant, and she hopes to stand alone on the stage, after the judges complete their task of scoring and announcing the names of the runners-up, as Miss Mississippi 2012; and

WHEREAS, Miss Snow is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Othelma Snow of Egypt, and the granddaughter of the late Harvey Snow, Jr., and Estervell Snow of Okolona, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, as a pharmacy major at Ole Miss, Miss Snow intends to continue to use her pageant scholarships to support her education, which currently is to complete pharmacy school after graduating in May; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend excellence, especially when evidenced by impressive Mississippians, such as Miss Snow, who will undoubtedly achieve considerable success as leaders in this great state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Miss Kayla Snow upon her crowning as Miss University 2012 at the University of Mississippi, and wish her all the best as she competes in the 2012 Miss Mississippi Pageant and in all of her future academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Miss Kayla Snow and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
