A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE ST. STANISLAUS HIGH SCHOOL ROCK-A-CHAWS BOYS SOCCER TEAM UPON WINNING THE 2010 4A MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, on February 6, 2010, the St. Stanislaus High School Rock-A-Chaws Boys Soccer Team captured the 2010 4A Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the Rock-A-Chaws won their fifth state title under the astute guidance of Head Coach Scott Pepperman; and

     WHEREAS, in the 2010 MHSAA 4A championship game, the Rock-A-Chaws kept pounding away and their hard work paid off as they defeated the West Lauderdale Knights 5-0 in a thrilling victory at the Clinton High School stadium; and

     WHEREAS, in the title game, Kollin Cannon was the lead scorer with two goals and was followed by Philip Prieur, Cole Phillips, and Jacob Boone all with single goals; and

     WHEREAS, en route to the championship game, the Rock-A-Chaws South State Regional victory did not come easy, they had to bounce back after a 0-1 halftime deficit to tie the game on a goal by Cole Phillips and then after two scoreless regular overtime periods and a scoreless half of sudden death, the Rocks at last prevailed with a breathtaking goal by Kollin Cannon giving the Rocks a 2-1 victory over Florence High School; and

     WHEREAS, turning young boys into men, the St. Stanislaus High School Boys Soccer program's future is bright with Coach Pepperman at the helm; and 

     WHEREAS, through years of perseverance and determination and with support from the community, the St. Stanislaus High School Rock-A-Chaws Boys Soccer Team has earned a reputation for excellence, courage and precision; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Pepperman's wisdom and relentless preparation have equipped all of his soccer players well for the sometimes inequitable challenges that they will all face throughout life; and

     WHEREAS, many of the St. Stanislaus High School soccer players participate in more than one sport, thus having to balance not only school work during the day, but also multiple training sessions beginning as soon as the school day ends; and

     WHEREAS, the roster of the 2009-2010 St. Stanislaus High School Rock-A-Chaws Boys Soccer Team includes:  James Kergosien, Jacob Boone, Jacques Chauvin, Cole Phillips, Dustin Ladner, John Ladner, Taylor Thompson, Hunter Beaugez, Josh Gibson, Boomer Scarborough, Philip Prieur, Perre' Carter, Grant Thompson, Garrett Muckleroy, Jake Forstall, Jacob Robinson, Thomas Allard, Alden St. Mary, Evan Ladner, Caleb Kergosien, Matt Renz, Kollin Cannon, Nick Halphen, Daniel Kergosien, Nolan Bevis, Jimmy Donlin, Blaise Gargiulo, Caycee Seal, Corey Hoppen, Wyatt Scott, Gavin Gros, Christian Hymel and Levi Dyer; and

     WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of these stellar athletes is not only a clear indication of their outstanding athletic ability, dedication and hard work, but also their drive and determination to be the best on the field and in the classroom; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend such a superb group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the St. Stanislaus High School Rock-A-Chaws Boys Soccer Team for winning the 2010 4A Mississippi High School Activities Association State Championship, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to St. Stanislaus High School, Coach Scott Pepperman and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
