AN ACT TO REQUIRE LOCAL SCHOOL BOARDS TO PURCHASE CERTAIN PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS, UNIFORMS AND OTHER REGALIA FOR THE USE OF SCHOOL BANDS, ORCHESTRAS AND CHOIRS, ATHLETIC UNIFORMS AND SPORTS TRAINING EQUIPMENT WITH GENERAL MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS FUNDS OR REVENUE GENERATED BY THE ACTIVITY FUNDS FOR INTERSCHOLASTIC EVENTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:SECTION 1. The local school board of each school district shall, with the use of general maintenance and operations funds or revenue generated by the activity funds for interscholastic events, purchase certain percussion instruments as determined necessary by the district, uniforms and other regalia for the use of school bands, orchestras and choirs, uniforms and sports training equipment necessary for the use of the district's athletic teams. Any such articles purchased shall always remain the property of the school district purchasing them.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2014.
