House Bill 855
AN ACT TO REQUIRE EVERY PUBLIC STATE INSTITUTION OF HIGHER LEARNING AND PUBLIC COMMUNITY OR JUNIOR COLLEGE IN THIS STATE TO MAKE AVAILABLE HEALTH INSURANCE FOR ALL STUDENTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Every public state institution of higher learning and public community or junior college in this state shall make available comprehensive health insurance coverage to all students, at no direct charge to the students. The benefits provided under such coverage may not be made subject to an annual deductible of more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00). Students who are eligible for Medicaid are not eligible for the coverage provided for under this section.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2012.
