House Bill 839

AN ACT TO REPEAL SECTIONS 75-59-1, 75-59-3, 75-59-5, 75-59-7 AND 75-59-9, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH ARE PROVISIONS ADDRESSING CORRESPONDENCE COURSES, PROVIDING FOR THE REQUIREMENT OF A PERMIT FROM THE SECRETARY OF STATE, THE PAYMENT AND COLLECTION OF FEES, REVOCATION OF PERMITS, INTERAGENCY COOPERATION BETWEEN THE SECRETARY OF STATE AND STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FOR DEVELOPMENT OF RULES AND REGULATION AFFECTING CORRESPONDENCE COURSE AND PENALTIES IMPOSED FOR VIOLATING THE PROVISIONS PERTAINING TO SUCH COURSES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Sections 75-59-1, 75-59-3, 75-59-5, 75-59-7 and 75-59-9, Mississippi Code of 1972, which are provisions addressing correspondence courses, providing for the requirement of a permit from the Secretary of State, the payment and collection of fees, revocation of permits, interagency cooperation between the Secretary of State and State Department of Education for development of rules and regulation affecting correspondence course and penalties imposed for violating the provisions pertaining to such courses, are hereby repealed.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2018.
