House Bill 811
AN ACT TO REQUIRE EMPLOYERS OF FULL-TIME CERTIFIED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS WHO ARE ROUTINELY ENGAGED IN LAW ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR DUTIES TO PROVIDE THE OFFICERS WITH BODY ARMOR TO PROTECT THEM FROM INJURY, AT THE EXPENSE OF THE EMPLOYERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The employer of any full-time law enforcement officer who has been certified by the Board on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training and is routinely engaged in law enforcement actions in the performance of his or her duties shall provide the officer with body armor to protect the officer from injury. The employer shall bear the expense of acquiring the body armor and the body armor shall be the property of the employer.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after October 1, 2013.
