House Bill 75
AN ACT TO REQUIRE PERSONS WHO RECEIVE PUBLIC ASSISTANCE BENEFITS TO HAVE A VOTER REGISTRATION CARD; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) Any person who is qualified to vote as provided in Section 23-15-11 and receives public assistance benefits and any other subsidies shall be required to have a voter registration card.
(2) For the purposes of this section, "public assistance benefits" means any payments or grants under the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program, medical assistance services under the Medicaid program, and any other economic assistance payments or services provided by the Mississippi Department of Human Services or the Department of Mental Health that are funded, in whole or in part, with state funds.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023.
