House Bill 746

AN ACT TO DIRECT THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH TO ESTABLISH A CRISIS INTERVENTION CENTER IN HINDS COUNTY; TO DIRECT THE LEGISLATURE, BEGINNING WITH FISCAL YEAR 2020, TO APPROPRIATE SUFFICIENT FUNDS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH ANNUALLY FOR THE DEPARTMENT TO BE ABLE TO CONTRACT WITH SUITABLE ENTITIES TO PROVIDE PROPER STAFFING AND SERVICES FOR ALL OF THE BEDS IN EACH OF THE CRISIS INTERVENTION CENTERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The State Department of Mental Health shall establish a crisis intervention center in Hinds County, in addition to the other crisis intervention centers in the state.

     SECTION 2.  Beginning with fiscal year 2020, the Legislature shall appropriate sufficient funds to the State Department of Mental Health each fiscal year for the department to be able to contract with suitable entities to provide proper staffing and services for all of the beds in each of the crisis intervention centers.

     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2019.
