House Bill 641

AN ACT TO REQUIRE COUNTY AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES THAT AUTHORIZE VEHICULAR PURSUITS TO ADOPT WRITTEN POLICIES THAT SET FORTH THE MANNER IN WHICH THESE OPERATIONS SHALL BE CONDUCTED; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Each county and local law enforcement agency that authorizes vehicular pursuits shall adopt written policies that set forth the manner in which such pursuits shall be conducted by December 31, 2022.  All pursuit policies adopted by any law enforcement agency shall address situations in which police pursuits cross over into other jurisdictions.  Any law enforcement agency that fails to comply with the requirements of this section shall be denied state funding or state administered federal funding by the Legislature.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2022.
