House Bill 609
AN ACT TO CREATE A CRIMINAL OFFENSE FOR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WHILE USING A MOTOR VEHICLE UNLAWFULLY TAKEN; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. In addition to any other criminal charges which may be brought, any person who unlawfully takes a motor vehicle belonging to another and causes an accident shall be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, shall be punished by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections for up to five (5) years.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2013.
