House Bill 569
AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SHALL CONDUCT A STUDY OF THE FEASIBILITY OF CONSTRUCTING A BYPASS ON AND ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 72 AROUND THE CITY OF CORINTH, MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall conduct a study of the feasibility of constructing a bypass on and along U.S. Highway 72 around the City of Corinth, Mississippi. The study shall include a detailed analysis and report of:
(a) The existing and projected traffic count along the proposed route;
(b) The costs for the construction and improvement of the bypass;
(c) The economic impact that the construction of the bypass may have on business, industry and tourism located within the City of Corinth and the surrounding area; and
(d) Any other information and data that the department determines relevant to the study.
(2) The department shall file a report of its findings and recommendations with the Secretary of the Senate, the Clerk of the House of Representatives and the respective Chairs of the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee and the House Transportation Committee on or before January 5, 2011.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2010.
