AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO NEGOTIATE A MUTUAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA (TAIWAN) FOR RECIPROCITY IN ISSUING DRIVER'S LICENSES TO CITIZENS OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI RESIDING IN THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA (TAIWAN) AND TO TAIWANESE CITIZENS RESIDING IN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The Commissioner of Public Safety is authorized to negotiate a mutual agreement between the Mississippi Department of Public Safety and the Republic of China (Taiwan), through the Ministry of Transportation and Communications represented by the Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston, Texas, for reciprocity in issuing driver's licenses to citizens of the State of Mississippi residing in the Republic of China (Taiwan) and to Taiwanese citizens residing in the State of Mississippi.  The mutual agreement shall be written and signed by the commissioner and Director General.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
