AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT VENUE FOR LAWSUITS ARISING FROM ANY ISSUE RELATING TO INITIATIVE MEASURE NO. 42 LIES IN THE CHANCERY COURT OF EITHER THE COUNTY IN WHICH THE PERSON FILING THE SUIT LEGALLY RESIDES OR THE FIRST JUDICIAL DISTRICT OF HINDS COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: SECTION 1. From and after the effective date of this act, any suit arising from any issue in relation to Initiative Measure No. 42, entitled "Should the State be required to provide for the support of an adequate and efficient system of free public schools?", may be brought, in the discretion of the person initiating the suit, in either the chancery court in the county of which the person filing the suit is a legal resident or the Chancery Court of the First Judicial District of Hinds County, Mississippi.
As used in this section, the term "person" has the meaning ascribed to it in Section 1-3-39.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
