House Bill 405
AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 19-5-101, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO AUTHORIZE ANY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO EXPEND MONIES TO MATCH FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF CERTAIN SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS; TO AMEND SECTION 21-19-65, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CLARIFY THAT THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF ANY MUNICIPALITY MAY EXPEND MONIES TO MATCH FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTERS AND SEXUAL ASSAULT PROGRAMS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 19-5-101, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
19-5-101. The board of supervisors of each county shall have the power to expend monies from the county general fund to match any other funds for the purpose of establishing and supporting social and community service programs including, but not limited to, the following:
(a) Juvenile
residential treatment centers * * *;
(b) Juvenile treatment centers and half-way houses; (c) Prenatal care facilities;
(d) Child day care facilities;
(e) Domestic violence shelters;
(f) Sexual assault programs;
(g) Mentally ill and alcoholics half-way houses;
(h) Child and adult emergency shelters; and
(i) Elderly home health aides programs.
SECTION 2. Section 21-19-65, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
21-19-65. The governing authorities of any municipality shall have the power to expend monies from the municipal general fund to match any other funds for the purpose of supporting social and community service programs including, but not limited to, the following:
(a) Juvenile residential treatment centers;
(b) Juvenile treatment centers and half-way houses; (c) Prenatal care facilities;
(d) Child day care facilities;
(e) Domestic violence shelters;
(f) Sexual assault programs;
(g) Mentally ill and alcoholics half-way houses;
(h) Child and adult emergency shelters; and
(e) Elderly home health aides programs.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2017.
