AN ACT TO CREATE "THE LONNIE BLUE SAFETY ACT"; TO REQUIRE COUNTY AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES THAT AUTHORIZE VEHICULAR PURSUITS TO ADOPT WRITTEN POLICIES THAT SET FORTH THE MANNER IN WHICH THESE OPERATIONS SHALL BE CONDUCTED; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as "The Lonnie Blue Safety Act."
SECTION 2. Each county and local law enforcement agency shall adopt written policies that set forth the manner in which such vehicular pursuits by such agency shall be conducted by December 31, 2021. The policies of such agency shall address situations in which police pursuits cross over into other jurisdictions. Any law enforcement agency that fails to comply with the requirements of this section shall be denied state funding or state administered federal funding by the Legislature.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2021.
