AN ACT TO PROHIBIT MOTOR VEHICLE DEALERS FROM CHARGING FEES FOR SERVICES RENDERED TO, FOR OR ON BEHALF OF A PURCHASER IN PREPARING, HANDLING OR PROCESSING DOCUMENTS RELATING TO THE SALE OR LEASE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The following shall be codified as Section 63-17-104, Mississippi Code of 1972:
63-17-104. No licensed dealer, as such term is defined in Section 63-21-5, shall charge or collect any fee for services rendered to, for or on behalf of a purchaser in preparing, handling or processing documents relating to the sale or lease of a motor vehicle unless such fee is specifically authorized or required by law.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2010.
